Taxonomía Brocchinia acuminata fue descrito por Lyman Bradford Smith y publicado en Brittonia 3: 160, f. 3a–d. 1939. Etimología Brocchinia: nombre genérico que fue otorgado en honor del naturalista italiano Giovanni Battista Brocchi.
