La Temporada 1998 del Campeonato Mundial de Superbikes fue la undécima temporada del Campeonato Mundial FIM Superbike. La temporada comenzó el 22 de marzo en Phillip Island y terminó el 4 de octubre en Sugo después de 12 rondas.

La temporada vio la introducción de un sistema de calificación revisado: después de dos sesiones de clasificación cronometradas, los dieciséis pilotos más rápidos fueron admitidos a la recién creada Superpole, que determinó las primeras cuatro filas de la parrilla de salida; Durante esta sesión cada corredor salió a la pista en orden de clasificación inversa para hacer solo una sola vuelta rápida.

Carl Fogarty, que acumuló tres victorias durante la temporada, ganó el campeonato de pilotos por tercera vez después de 1994 y 1995; Fogarty prevaleció sobre Aaron Slight en la última ronda, mientras que Troy Corser, que había entrado a la carrera final como líder de la clasificación, no pudo correr debido a una lesión. Ducati ganó el campeonato de constructores.
