[i.e. the 13th Dalai Lama] had ascertained and resolved that he was the Tulku of the previous incarnation Ngawang Lobsang Yeshe Tenpai Gyaltsen [...] and installed him on the throne of his seat. siguiendo las indicaciones dadas al monasterio Réting por parte del XIII Dálai lama en 1915. Sir Charles Bell, Portrait of a Dalai Lama. The Life and Times of the Great Thirteenth, First Published in 1946, Wisdom Publications, pp. 221-222: The Tibetan biography mentions how, during 1915, the Dalai Lama gave indications for the discovery of the new Incarnation of the Abbot of the Reting Monastery, a very high incarnate lama.
The Fifth Reting Hutuktu Thubden Jampal Yeshe Tenpai Gyaltsen (1912-1947): Then he entered the Serje [...] Monastic College, where he brought his studies and contemplation of the textual tradition of the five groupings of the word of the Buddha [...] to full completion and was awarded the title of Lharampa Geshe.

Frederick Spencer Chapman, Lhasa the Holy City. With and Introduction by Sir Charles Bell, Chatto & Windus, Londres, 1940: The interview was impressive, although the Regent himself has little presence. He is a frail, undersized, almost emaciated-looking monk of about twenty-three years of age, with very prominent ears. He has a receding chin and peculiar creases above the bridge of his nose which when he frowns assume the shape of rudimentary horns. He wore ordinary monk’s clothes, with a braided undercoat, stiff pinkish turned-up boots, and red habit, leaving his thin arms bare. No hat was worn over his closely-cropped hair.
Melvyn C. Goldstein, A History of Modern Tibet, vol. 2, The Calm Before the Storm: 1951-1955, University of California Press, 2009, p. 7: The Dalai Lama's death required the appointment of a regent to oversee the selection of the new Dalai Lama and rule in his minority. Since the late eighteenth century, this had been an incarnate lama, but in 1933 there was some sentiment favoring the appointment of Langdün, a lay aristocrat, to perform this function.
Melvyn C. Goldstein, A History of Modern Tibet, Vol. 1, The Demise of the Lamaist State: 1913-1951, University of California Press, 1989, p. 188: The young and inexperienced Reting […] was also seriously considered [as a candidate for the regency] because of the unusual interest the Dalai Lama had taken in him when he visited Reting monastery in 1933. At that time he gave the young Reting his own divination manuscript and dice, supposedly telling him, ‘I have been using these and they have proved good and if you use them it will prove useful for you, too’. Reting’s supporters argued that this was a sign that the late Dalai Lama wanted him to become regent. Xiong Ji, Radreng the regent , in Tibet Studies 199001, China Tibet Information Centre, 2005-07-04.
En 1934 Jamphel Yeshe Gyaltsen, con apenas 23 años de edad, fue nombrado Regente del Tíbet; The Fifth Reting Hutuktu Thubden Jampal Yeshe Tenpai Gyaltsen (1912-1947): At the age of 23, in the Wood-Dog year of the 16th cycle, which is the Western year 1934, he became the acting regent of the Kashag [...] government and was in charge of the administration of Tibet for seven years. aunque tuvo que compartir el poder con Langdun, sobrino del XIII Dálai lama que desde 1926 ejercía como Kalon Tripa o primer ministro del gobierno tibetano.
Reting Rinpoche, The Tibet Album, Pitt Rivers Museum: (...) on the charge (which appears to be well grounded) of conspiring to overturn the existing Government and to seize power for himself. Xiong Ji, Radreng the regent, opus citatum: (...) the ringleader, Lungshar, was arrested and punished by having his eyes gouged out, put in jail life-long, his property confiscated, and his descendants could never take any post in the government.
Xiong Ji, Radreng the Retring, opus citatum: In the process of seeking the incarnation, moving him to Lhasa, drawing lots in the golden urn, his tonsure and enthronement - in all these important matters Radreng had reported to the central government in accordance with the old institution. Xiong Ji, Radreng the Retring, opus citatum: In April of 1934 the Kuomintang government sent a mission headed by Huang Musong to Tibet to pay homage to the Thirteenth Dalai Lama's memory. Arriving in Lhasa in August, the Huang mission was accorded a warm welcome. Talks between the central government emissary and the Tibetan representative resulted in the decision of establishing a Lhasa office under the Commission for Mongolian and Tibetan Affairs. Xiong Ji, Radreng the Retring, opus citatum: As a sign of goodwill, the mission supplied the Lhasa office a transmitter and helped set up a weather station, a primary school, and a clinic.
Khemey Sonam Wangdu, Discovery of the Dalai Lama, in Khemey Sonam Wangdu, Sir Basil J. Gould and Hugh E. Richardson, Discovery, Recognition and Enthronement of the 14th Dalai Lama, Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, Dharamsala, 2000, pp. 1-52, en particular pp. 9-10: Among his many responsibilities, Regent Reting treated the search for the next incarnation as the most urgent. The Tibet Album, opus citatum: In 1933 he visited the Cho-Kor-Gye lake in search of signs of the re-incarnation of the Dalai Lama. Khemey Sonam Wangdu, opus citatum: (...) the regent saw in the lake three groups of dbu can letters, “A”, “KA” and “MA”. He also saw a three-storied monastery, with its second floor in a turquoise colour and the rooftop adorned with rgya phib in golden colour; and a threadlike path leading towards the east from the monastery reaching up to the foot of a hill where there was a one-storied house with a blue roof. The regent noted all these visions in writing, keeping the information confidential.
